"Water and A Flame" is an amazing duet with Daniel Merriweather and Adele. It is on Daniel Merriweather's album, Love and War, which was released in the UK earlier this year. The album will be released in the US on the 19th of January. It is one of my favorite tracks on the album. I was really excited to hear Adele and think that their two voices really blend well. I also like the soul and the depth in the song and it suits both singers. Here is the music video:
As much as I like the song, I really don't like the video much... it's missing something.... ADELE! How did they not have Adele in the video?! She has a whole verse in the song, it's not like she is singing in the background. I'm very annoyed and hope they asked Adele and there was a scheduling conflict or something. At any rate, the Daniel Merriweather's album is good, and Adele is amazing.
Adele is one of my favorite artists. Her album 19 is incredible, from start to finish. In fact, I think it is one of my top 20 albums of all time. It is hard to believe that this is her debut album and was recorded when she was only 19. She has so much wisdom and so much soul. Aside from her lyrics, music, and singing talent, Adele is very unpolished, which I adore. I was fortunate to see her live in a small cafe before the release of her album, and Adele was very comfortable and at ease on the stage. There was a big tall chair for her, and she commented on how she liked the chair as it fit her, whereas most chairs are too small for her. She laughed a lot, was giddy, and spoke to the audience. She is real, and as you will see in interviews, she is blunt, honest, and witty. And I adore her.
I across Adele's music on youtube before she had an EP or album, and instantly fell in love with her song "Hometown Glory". The song is an homage to London, where Adele is from. Although I've never been to London, I've been fascinated by the UK for years now, and this song instantly played to my heart strings and always makes me emotional and pensive. It fuels my desire to go to London. The lyrics are so descriptive and you can imagine what London looks and feels like, according to Adele. I love the way she pops the words "thick" and "opaque". I love the piano introduction, and the story about wondering around in a city. I get lost in the song and the imagery and emotions. I have gone on really long runs with "Hometown Glory" on repeat the whole run. I absolutely love this song, the album 19, and Adele.

Adele did a cover of "Last Night" originally by The Strokes for Radio 1 Live Lounge. I really like this cover, it is really different and not something I would have expected from Adele. I really like how she took a modern rock/pop song and added some soul, not too much, but a hint of it here and there.
Sam Sparro's "Black and Gold" was one of the best songs of the summer last year. The beat is infectious and super catchy. You can't help but bust a move when you hear it. It's got a great beat and is super fun. The lyrics are also really cool and creative. The song is very versatile in that is sounds great in its original form, as a dance track, but also sounds great acoustically. The lyrics really stand out in the acoustic versions, adding more credability to the song. There have been many artists that have covered it acoustically, including Adele.
I love Adele's take on the song. Again, she adds some soul, but not too much. She takes a great dance/pop song with great lyrics, and adds some emotion to it. She brings out the romantic love and desperation of the lyrics, which get lost in the beat of the original.
