Stephen Gately, from Boyzone, was found dead in Majorca, at the age of 33. The circumstances of his death are still being investigated.
Stephen Gately along with Ronan Keating, sang lead for the boy band. The band released 3 albums in the UK, all of which reached the #1 spot on the charts. Boyzone has released 18 singles - 17 of which cracked the top 10, with 6 making it to #1.
When the band split, Stephen Gately released a solo album, which peaked at #9. In 1999, Stephen Gately became one of the first pop stars to come out, and caused some controversy in doing so.
Stephen Gately was a talented singer, writer, and actor. He contributed to the resurgence of boybands in the 90s and left his mark on the UK pop scene. His death is a tragedy and the UK pop music just lost a great one.
