Laura Izibor - Let The Truth Be Told

Laura Izibor is a 22 year old singer/songwriter and composer from Ireland that has opened up for Aretha Franklin, John Legend, India.Arie and Maxwell. Her debut album, "Let The Truth Be Told" was released in the UK in March of 2009, and on June 16 in the US.

I first took notice of Laura Izibor when I heard her single "Shine" on UK radio. It reminded me of Corinne Bailey Rae, and I enjoyed it. While "Shine" is a great song and is very radio friendly, I was hesitant to pick up the album. But curiosity got the better of me, and I was surprised. The album has many great tracks and Laura Izibor is very talented. Certain songs remind me of Corinne Bailey Rae, while other songs remind me of Alicia Keys, including the song "Perfect World". I can actually imagine Alicia Keys singing it.

Other tracks that stand out for me include: "What Would You Do", "If Tonight Is My Last", "Don't Stay", "Yes (I'll Be Your Baby", and "From My Heart To Yours". Overall, the album is great and very impressive for a debut album. I highly recommend picking up the album and I'm sure the music industry will be hearing more of Laura Izibor.
