One day when I was listening to music on youtube, I came across Zee Avi and instantly fell in love with the her first single, "Bitter Heart". The song is very original and very soothing. Zee Avi is only 23, but sounds wiser and more refined. Zee is from Malaysia and plays the guitar. She started recording songs on her webcam and posting them onto youtube. Eventually, Patrick Keeler, the drummer from The Raconteurs. On the 19th of May, Zee released her album, entitled "Zee Avi" She is currently on tour in the US.

I really like Zee Avi and her sound. It's very fresh, innocent and pure. In addition to the guitar, Zee plays the ukulele which is featured on many songs. Her albums is very eclectic, and her voice is very soothing and comforting on all the tracks. There are two tracks that I particulatly enjoy, "Bitter Heart" and "Honey Bee".
While I recognize and appreciate her talents, her album is not one I can listen to for very long or often. (There are several artists that I feel the same way about including Norah Jones). Again, she is very gifted and talented. Her lyrics are pure and emtional and her music captures a distinct mood and feeling. Check out hte video below, it's a live performance showcase she played:
